TRIM, COUNTY MEATH
Meath is known as the Royal County. This is not a reference
to any modern Royal Family, rather a reference to the ancient High Kings
of Ireland who made their home in Tara, Co. Meath during pre christian times.
Near Tara is the town of Trim. This is one of the most beautiful and historic
towns in Ireland . On the banks of the River Boyne, the town boasts Castles,
Abbeys and ruins.
King John's Castle, on the banks of the river boyne is the largest Norman
Castle in Europe dating from 11 72. It was the location for the oscar winning
film "Braveheart" starring Mel Gibson.
